You can not do it for them… honest, I have tried!

You can not diet for them. You can not exercise for them. You can not manage their money for them. And…

You can’t eliminate their stuff and arrange for them.

However bad it gets.

Believe me, I have tried. I have begged, pleaded, coerced, and nagged.

What I see as crap, he sees as treasure. What I want to discard, he wants to keep.

For thirty-seven years we have been doing this dance. A dance where we step on each others feet — a lot!

What I needed to learn from this dancing, often the hard way, was that I couldn’t do so for him. I couldn’t force him. Threaten him.

There was not any way to move this guy until he was ready. Until he saw the value of doing this.

When I pushed before he was ready, that just made us both mad. And, his toes just dug in deeper. No way to move a boulder that large.

So, what do we do if we want to have a neat and clean house, well arranged, with a place for everything and everything in its place IF our spouses do just the opposite?

It’s a question I hear frequently, how can I “create” my spouse (wife, lover, children, family member, roommate… ) eliminate the mess and tidy up after themselves?

Excellent question and the answer is multi-faceted, layered, and frequently complicated.

However, the simple answer is that — You Can’t!

You can not make them do anything. It only happens when they’re prepared, when they see the value of doing this, or, something kicks them into equipment to take action.

To accomplish the job.

That’s if you wish for sustainable achievement in addition to a more peaceful relationship!

Badger someone into submission, or throw their things without permission, and a war of wills is waged.

Nobody wins when that happens. Yep, been there with this, too!

So, what can you do, you ask?

Here are three useful tips…

Recognize your definition isn’t theirs. Believe it or not, there’s no one definition of mess. Each individual sees it differently. What you see as jumble, isn’t necessarily how they view it. So, get clear on your definitions of clutter, tidy and organized. This will assist with tip #2.

Establish some rules and boundaries. Sit down with your partner or family and hash out these together. Define what regions of the house are communal — those utilized by all regularly. What areas are private? And, what areas are considered completely “off limits” by anyone but you. Determine what’s permitted, or not, in every area of the house, but especially the communal ones. These are those that cause the most conflict. Establish the bounds clearly AND discuss what happens if these boundaries are crossed.

Get started and do your own places. When you show by doing, it receives the energy moving and your partner and family will follow. You may begin with “Throw Away Thursdays.”

And, remember it’s baby steps. Those very small steps do build on each other with amazing results.

With no extra value, there are no gains. This is true with any business, but what makes property such a wonderful business and a wonderful investment, is the variety of ways that you can add value and cash in on big profits. Here are three ways that you can add value to your possessions.

You may also use this strategy to increase tax gains over a couple of years, rather than taking a major hit all in 1 year. When you’ve got a property available are a limited number of buyers for your home, although right now that pool of buyers sounds pretty large. If you are able to increase the pool of buyers, then the requirement for that 1 home increases, which forces the price to go up. Someone that cannot be eligible for a typical loan, restricting the supply of homes to pick from for that purchaser, will probably purchase your property. That also raises the price. You’re adding value by providing them the opportunity to get a house that they normally wouldn’t be able to have. With this value, you should be compensated with a higher cost and a good rate of interest on the profits, as you await the buyer to refinance and pay off you in full.

Shared Units: This is one area of property I have not dabbled in, but it’s very inviting. The idea here would be to offer your property to multiple buyers. You’re seeing this a lot in resort cities. I’ve seen business plans from investors who would purchase a home and quarter discuss it out. The idea was that after they improved the property and sold 3/4 of their home to 3 distinct buyers, they would have the previous 1/4 clear and free. Obviously this strategy will work best in places where folks want second homes. The drawback is if there are any improvements or significant difficulties.

Evolution allows species to adapt to their environment, so the species can fulfill a niche and live to procreate and carry on. Those species that didn’t evolve quickly enough and were not able to change their localized living spaces are no longer with us, or risk joining the list of endangered species and then, perhaps eventual extinction. Let us discuss how humans are modifying not only our own environment but the environment we share with other species and how that affects their adaptations and evolutionary procedure.

But, for this list I want to add street noise, interfering in the hunting and evading process of character, and urban heat island effect. Additionally, hunting by humans, simpler access to animals that hangout near roads for road kill, heat, or water runoff – and poisoning by individuals who put out poisons to prevent rodents and gophers from digging borrows under the road way or into neighboring flood control levees and infrastructures. So, let’s call these:

Road Noise – Harder to hear predators or prey

Even though some of the mountain lions labeled have routinely crossed freeways in CA, maybe they’re adapting and learning, teaching their young, maybe in 20-generations adaptations will begin to appear as they evolve for this new threat?

A recent statistical study showed that the normal point in the US is less than 1/2 mile from a paved street. Our wildlife has to adapt or die to deal with these changes in their surroundings. You can just imagine the many ways these and other issues are changing their evolutionary adaptation. Pigeons have adapted to live in the city, in parks, along with other species – completely changing the dynamics of their normal evolutionary process, simply because everything we do, affects something else. BTW – I’m not an environmentalist or an advocate for wildlife, but no one can deny what I’ve mentioned here today isn’t real.

Bug eating Plants!

Tropical pitcher plants are the kings of the carnivore plants on the planet. They are the only carnivorous plants which can grow to large sizes large enough to swallow huge insects to large rodents. There are more than 150 different species of tropical pitcher plants and every one shows mother nature’s dark side of revenge against small mammals & insects. The biggest tropical pitcher plant current is “Nepenthes Rajah”.

Although these plants are beautiful and produce some of the most amazing looking flowers that are entirely benign, the fact that the flower was made because of all of the nutrients it captured from the prey it devoured is frightening. To grow among those king carnivore plants in your backyard means to set up a death trap for any tiny critters nearby. In Lakeland Florida, the Nepenthes Miranda species is well known for capturing one particular prey far too often than any fleas and insect. Although this prey can potentially escape most of the time, it has been seen on YouTube, books & photography this prey can in fact drown and become plant dinner when it falls into a big trap which happens far too frequently in Lakeland Florida.

So how do they get caught? It is extremely simple and somewhat different than the way the insects become captured. Let us first explain the difference. Nepenthes pitcher plants produce colorful leaves and traps that capture the attention of hungry bugs & insects passing by. The leaves resemble yummy fruits and the nectar the plant releases around the traps lip seals the deal and tricks the insects into thinking it’s a free meal without a price tag. Almost like a person drinking beer or vodka, drink too much and it is over. The lip of the traps are also slippery, designed so prey could fall inward to the trap when they have become groggy and can no longer hold themselves on the slippery surface. Once at the bottom, they drown in the pool of digestive juices and then the plant will start the breakdown the insects’ soft parts and suck it up its glands.

The capture process is comparable to anole lizards; The lizards are attracted to the smell of the delicious nectar and begin licking it off the lip but that doesn’t seal the deal as quickly as it does with insects. In the state of Florida, it can be very hot during the summer months & it is not always easy for lizards to find drinking water. They become tempted to push their luck by climbing in the pitchers and make their way to the digestive juices to drink; after drinking from a pool of drowned and digested insects is better than not drinking in any way. Some lizards hide inside pitcher plants from other predators or find insects still alive inside a pitcher trap and try to catch and consume it. The issue about this is that the lizard will more and probably fall in the liquid and if he’s lucky, he can swim and climb his way out but when he can not get out and becomes exhausted from the failed attempts of escape, then he’ll drown and become dinner. This happens far too often for pitcher plant growers in Florida. Some pitchers can catch more lizards than they could digest, resulting in the trap rotting away.

Insect meals can take about 3 weeks to digest completely while anole lizards can take up to 2-3 months before leaving nothing but lizard bones at the bottom of a pitcher plant snare. A pitcher plant that eats nothing but reptiles can grow into a really large plant and whether the plant is getting the humidity, heat & lighting it requires, it can develop some very large traps (depending on the species).
